Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children in Cairo invites British artists /performers/ companies to apply for the international performing arts program of the 13th edition of Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children from the 30th of November – 16th of December 2023
Environment & Climate- focused performing arts productions (Music, Object Theater, Storytelling, Puppetry, Contemporary dance, etc), Arts Installations, aimed for young audiences aged 0-18 years are welcome to apply.
About Hakawy
Founded in 2011, Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children, is the only international arts festival for children in Egypt, is an annual festival organized by AFCA Arts Center, where Local and international artists and companies from different art forms come together for a one-of-a-kind art experience. The festival hosts workshops, masterclasses, and exhibitions alongside the performances program to foster a creative outlet and space for both the children and artists working in the field. The festival tours different governorates across Egypt in an effort to decentralize the arts festival experience and to be easily accessible for children no matter where they are from.

Terms of Participation
-You must be a british or UK -based artist/company
– The productions must not exceed 60 minutes.
– Productions must be appropriate for children and youth aged 0-18 years old.
– Only submissions of production that premiered already and didn’t participate in an older edition of Hakawy Festival are eligible
-Productions/installations still in production are not eligible to apply
– Selected companies and artists must be available to perform during the festival dates 30 th of November till – 16th of December 2023
– Must send a full length video of the performance
-Artworks must be linked to Environment, & Climate Action
Technical Requirements
Must send the technical rider along with the application, Hakawy Festival will assist with the necessary technical setup of the productions with coordination of the venues of the festival, as mentioned in the sent technical rider, any prompt change of the technical rider is not of responsibility of the festival.
The festival will provide financial support to be disclosed with the selected companies/artists and accommodate companies/artists.
Only complete applications will be considered, any incomplete applications will not be evaluated by the selection committee.
The selection committee will inform by email all the companies submitted, whether or not their proposal has been selected, mid October 2023 .
